We did not have to file a claim on this trip with CSA Travel Protection but we did on our last trip. We were very pleased with the timely response from CSA. It was an easy process all the way to the end.

I purchased the RoamRight Preferred plan for traveling in Cuba. I had an unplanned large medical expense that I had to cover with cash because U.S. Credit cards are not accepted in Cuba. It took over a week of emails and phone calls to file a claim and get the expense covered. Given the logistics in Cuba, this was probably reasonable. I would just caution anyone purchasing a plan for Cuba that RoamRight did not seem very experienced in delivering services in Cuba despite selling a policy marketed for travel there. RoamRight did come through in the end with a satisfactory response to my claim, so I give them good marks for their commitment to their customer.

I have used Global Underwriters three times now but have never needed to make a claim. It sounds like an excellent plan but I have not put it to the test.

Luxury Cruise
The plan was expensive for the coverage received and I was disappointed my local agent could not handle writing the policy. I was also disappointed that I received no discount since we have house, car, boat, life and umbrella policies with Nationwide. Where's the benefit and quid pro quo for giving all our business to Nationwide?

The Nationwide Mutual Insurance Luxury Cruise is an upper echelon plan with robust benefit limits, and the premium reflects this. Unfortunately, Nationwide is unable provide a discount on travel insurance for multi policy customers due to insurance regulations. Lastly, the Nationwide travel insurance plans sold on InsureMyTrip are retail plans which can only be purchased online. Thank you for your feedback on the policy. After cancelling your trip, you contacted AXA Assistance USA to cancel your travel insurance policy. The AXA Assistance USA Gold plan for residents of Illinois has a 10 day free look period, "You may cancel insurance under the Policy by giving Us or Our Administrator written notice within 10 days from the Effective Date. If You do this, We will refund Your premium paid provided You have not filed a claim under the Policy."
Unfortunately, your request to cancel the policy came outisde of the 10 day free look period so you were unable to receive a full refund of premium. However, AXA Assistance USA provided a pro-rated refund of premium under the following clause, "You have the right to cancel the Policy at any time by giving advance notice to Our Agent or Us (stating when thereafter the cancellation shall be effective). We will refund any unearned premium to You within 10 days of cancellation."
