The true indicator on insurance is the claim process. Insurance can provide all the bells and whistles giving people a false sense of security until they have to file a claim. Even though I gave 5 stars its by no means a good indicator. Personally only claims should be shown on this website to make a good decisions.

Only problem was that I didn't know I had to book "Cancel for Any Reason" insurance within a short time frame of booking my trip.

    Cancel For Any Reason reimburses between 50% - 75% of the pre-paid and nonrefundable trip cost insured if:

    1) the policy is purchased with the benefit included within 10-30 days after making the initial trip payment (time frame depends upon specific policy)

    2) the full cost of all non-refundable prepaid travel arrangements in insured on the policy

    3) the trip is cancelled at-least 2 days prior to the Scheduled Departure Date.

Thankfully there was no need to activate the medical insurance during the duration of my trip, but I had peace of mind that in the event of a medical emergency I had adequate coverage abroad. For the amount of coverage; the premium was very reasonable. Thank you.

Generali Global Assistance Standard
For a claim of $60, I received a comprehensive memorandum as to why it couldn't be paid. I'm sure they spent more than $60. A quick phone call might have been wiser. I eventually responded to them with a detailed response, and eventually I did get a check from them. In the end we were satisfied with the outcome, but the amount of time it took to get a small amount of money, when the facts were not in dispute, was curious. I may use the company again, or, hmm, not sure.

We had to submit a claim a few days prior to our scheduled departure date due to the death of a parent. TravelSafe had great claim information online, very nice, helpful people on the phone when we had some follow up questions. After sending in, understandably, a lot of paper work, our claim was paid in full with no additional questions asked.
