Nationwide Mutual Insurance Luxury Cruise
Don't purchase this cruise insurance. My cruise was cancelled because the ship was damaged. I submitted a claim to recoup flights and hotels, insurance company has sent me in circles for months and does not want to pay up.

We understand that it is never pleasant to receive a denial for reimbursement under the Trip Cancellation coverage. However, your reason to cancel your trip must be specifically stated as a covered reason in the policy. Comprehensive plans are designed to cover as many risks as possible, but is very rare for any insurance plan to cover all possible risks. Unfortunately, it was determined that the event that occurred did not fall within the scope of Trip Cancellation for this specific plan.

Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection ExactCare Value
I had to bother a claim worker several times to get any info on the plan I purchased as I received nothing showing plan number, or anything showing I purchased a plan. Fortunately she was able to search out and send me some info showing I had bought a plan even though it was not her area. Someone should have sent me info on the plan I bought and a receipt at least.

John Hancock Silver
During our cruise my wife had a slight injury at the gym with her knee.. We didn't see a doctor as nothing could have been done on the ship. So we rapped it up and hoped it would get better in a few days. As soon as we got home I called the insurance company so we can get some treatment at home.. I was told if we didn't go to a doctor while on our trip it would not be covered and a claim would be a waste of time.. Nonsense, that's why we buy insurance and did not want to use it on the ship as it would be a waste of money for the insurance company..So anytime you have any injuries go to a doctor while on your trip for the records.. Will not use them again..

    We are sorry to learn of the accidental injury that your wife suffered. The John Hancock Silver plan provides coverage up to 100,000 USD per person for unforeseen, accidental injuries or emergency illnesses which first occur during the trip, and are treated by a physician during the trip. If medical treatment is not obtained during the trip, and the traveler waits until returning home to the United States, the travel insurance expires and you will be responsible for the medical bills. AIG Travel Travel Guard Basic
While we thankfully never had to make a claim, having travel insurance definitely brought us piece of mind. My new wife and I climbed up a very difficult (and in some places dangerous) mountain, and It was great knowing we were covered if anything happened.
