It seems that you are penalized for being older. I'm 71 and had to pay twice the amount for my plan as did my 44 year old daughter. And this was true for all the insurance companies that I contacted. General Global Assistance had the most reasonable price. The plan offered coverage for all that I needed for a 9 day European Vacation. Thank goodness I didn't have to use it as all went well.

Thank you for your review. The premiums of the policies are determined by the insurance providers. The premiums are based on the age of the travelers, the length of the trip and the cost of the trip. Unfortunately, as travelers get older, it does cause the insurance premiums to increase. Very hard to rate a plan unless you have a claim. Purchasing was easy & coverage was appropriate but the true test of a company & the policy is when a claim is filed.

Luckily we did not have to use the plan. However we did see a passenger evacuation from our cruise ship by helicopter. I wonder if that person had insurance?

We did have a delay in baggage delivery on the way home that was inconvenient but did not require purchase of replacement supplies or additional laundry expenses that would have been covered by the plan. However it did require extra time and phone calls with the airline over 3 days to track down the bags and there is no compensation for that effort.

Although your plan would not reimburse you for the additional time and phone calls, Generali Global Assistance did offer help in "Locating Lost or Stolen Items: The assistance provider will assist in locating and replacing lost or stolen luggage, documents and personal possessions."
"How to Call the 24-Hour Emergency Hotline - If you need emergency help for an available service, you can call toll-free 24 hours a day to (877) 243-4135 from within the United States, or call collect to (240) 330-1529 from around the world."

We settled on Generali Global travel insurance by doing a comparison using a chart provided on the internet. We felt that Generali provided the coverage that we were most concerned with i.e. delayed travel, insurance if we had to cancel our trip or if we had to cut our trip short due to illness as we have an elderly mother. Luckily we did not have to make any claims as our vacation went very smooth. It is nice to know that we had coverage just the same.

I did not have any problems on my trip to the Marianas, but prior travel experiences proved to me that having coverage is a great advantage when unforeseen circumstances and events occur. I have had great results with Generali Global and will use them again on future travels.
