These reviews are a little silly for purchases. If one hasn't made a claim, it's difficult to know how the claims will be handled, which is what matters. Generally speaking, since most of this isn't primary insurance and you may have coverage with other providers, it is overpriced.

We were unhappy to find out this insurance did not cover denied visa because there has been a lot of trouble getting visas approved to China. Otherwise it was seemingly good, but we bought it in hopes of covering us incase of visa denial and later learned it would not have helped.

We are sorry to hear that you had to cancel your trip because you were unable to receive your travel visa prior to your scheduled departure date. Since this was not listed as a "covered reason" in your Nationwide Essential plan, there would be no reimbursement under your Trip Cancellation coverage. "Covered Reasons", which vary from plan to plan, may be reviewed prior to purchase by clicking on the dollar amount of Trip Cancellation coverage within the quote.
Reimbursement would have been available to you if you had purchased a policy that included "Cancel for Any Reason". Subject to the policy's terms and conditions, CFAR allows you to cancel your trip for other than a covered reason. In the future, you may wish to call Customer Care at 800-487-4722 for assistance with a CFAR quote.
We had a port itinerary change, twice, before our cruise. Called Nationwide, claim form was emailed promptly, with clear instructions on what would be needed to file claim. After sailing, we submitted the claim, and were promptly paid for the full coverage amount listed on the policy. Because of the ease of that claim, we are purchasing this policy again, for our upcoming cruise,

Travel insurance with medical evacuation is essential when out-of-country. My only complaint with this plan is the plan’s recommendation that travelers carry a hard copy of the plan. Who wants to carry document with over 40 pages? It would be awesome if companies could provide a 2-3 page essentials document for actual travel.

We did not have to file a claim this time but we did in the past and it was handled quickly and just as the plan indicated. These people are very easy to work with and the cost has always been more reasonable than what I could get from my travel agent. We use this plan every time we travel on a cruise. It is well worth the peace of mind that it offers.
