We've never purchased traveler's insurance in the past, but due to my mother-in-law's recent health problems, we thought it would be a good idea to do so this year. We feel very blessed that our vacation was able to take place and that we did not need to use the insurance.

After purchasing the insurance, I heard some horror stories from some of my teacher co-workers about claims that they had to make and quite a hassle to get the coverage they paid for. I'm not saying that this is your company's insurance, but traveler's insurance in general. So, now I'm left wondering if I should purchase in the future.

C&F Travel Insured International Worldwide Trip Protector Lite
Very disappointed in the response time. It took about 2 months before I actually was reimbursed for our expenses. I requested and included a void check so they could automatically deposit the check to my checking account, but they sent it to an address I wasn't at and was returned. They didn't cover all of it because of lack of a receipt for $5 for a prescription, even though I sent pictures.

    We received the following response from C&F Travel Insured International:
    'We sincerely apologize if you experienced any frustration or inconveniences. After speaking with the Claims Department, it appears that we received the claim documentation on 5/1, we requested additional info on 5/22 and completed the claim review on 5/31.

    We do apologize that there was an oversight regarding the payment preference and a check was mailed instead of a direct deposit. Unfortunately, without receipts confirming payment we are unable to reimburse the amount requested. We urge you to contact us any time at 1-800-243-3174 with questions or concerns before, during, or after your trip to ensure you are receiving the best coverage and service possible. Thank you.'

AIG Travel Travel Guard MedEvac Plan
This travel insurance coverage is a complete farce. When I needed help during my trip, the AIG reps who I spoke with were rude and unhelpful. I was in the middle of a national forest injured and they were just completely oblivious to my needs. I would never purchase this again or recommend it to anyone. Waste of my time and money.

I will never insure with this company again. Have purchased several trip policies and made one claim this year due to illness. Always had to call in to find out the status. Took forever. We site showing status is worthless. They denied the claim according to what isn't covered obviously hidden in their 34 page policy. Customer service was not helpful every time I called. Like pulling teeth to get information.
