The is/was extremely confusing. Had a near death medical emergency yet trip interruption qualifications weren't met. How? I'm still confused. Not worth the hassle. Not worth the headache. Despite requesting clarity, Still not clear on what clear on what should have been done to utilize the policy.

I purchased a $4000 coverage plan for my trip to Israel. Unfortunately, a terrorist attack occurred, followed by a war outbreak. For safety reasons, the travel provider canceled the trip. My travel insurance, however, refused to cover the $500 non-refundable deposit I paid. They cited that the 33-day gap between the attack and the scheduled departure date exceeded their 30-day limit for coverage. This is extremely frustrating given that the conflict is still ongoing, and I am left as an innocent party affected by these circumstances.

We are in our mid-70s and we know that the odds that one of us might need medical attention while overseas are increasing. So, we need to have good insurance when we travel. Two of my children are actuaries, and we know that real insurance with a good track record will not be cheap; in fact, cheap insurance is probably worse than no insurance. Thank you for providing this coverage.

Fortunately didn't need the insurance this time. Last time we traveled we filed a medical claim for $8,000 and we were reimbursed promptly, so that is why we chose the same plan again.

We purchased Nationwide travel insurance for a 3 week European vacation. We needed to file for trip delay due to weather issues and then for trip interruption due to my husband falling ill and needing hospitalization in London 1week into our trip. The overseas division , On Call International, worked their magic to get us flights home. They even arranged for wheelchair service at all connecting airports. They were very responsive and kept us informed throughout the process, Once home, the claim forms were easy to fill out and if I had a question it was easy to contact representatives by phone to clarify. Charges for unused , pre paid hotels and cruise were reimbursed within 6 weeks. The only things that were not covered were my hotels and food during my husband’s hospitalization . Those are only paid if the trip is interrupted by a hazard and sickness is not considered a hazard. As I went back and read the policy I could see that was true, but sometimes you don’t know what to look for prior to purchase. I would caution, if you find yourself in the same situation, to get contact emails for doctors as they needed to fill in some parts of the forms. Medical was also included in the policy but it is secondary to your own health insurance. We needed to submit to our health insurance first and since they paid the bill in full we didn’t have to submit to Nationwide. Make sure to keep all invoices and emails to be submitted with your claim. Bottom line- I would use Nationwide again because of their excellent overseas service and quick settlement of the claims,
