Comprehensive plans offer the most benefits, including Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption. These plans provide the best protection for the investment you have made in your trip.
I purposely selected this policy from Travel Insured International because it claimed to cover Bankruptcy or Default of the trip provider. The trip provider, Vantage Travel, encouraged me to pay them in full in cash, one year in advance, in order to save 10%. Although I normally prefer to pay travel expenses via credit card, this provision in the insurance policy reassured me that it would protect my cash payment. Yet scarcely one month after making the payment, Vantage canceled my trip, offering me a full refund, which never arrived. I contacted Travel Insured International to see if I could file a claim, based on the default provision. They told me to file the claim, requesting all kinds of documentation, including the travel provider's irrelevant cancellation policy if I were to cancel the trip. The claim was denied. Even though, in my opinion, the travel company was in default of payment, the insurance company later told me that their fine print definition of default requires that the travel company should no longer be in business.
Still, I took comfort in the advice of two different insurance representatives that I could use the premium paid for this policy toward another trip. I then tried to do this and was denied the privilege because I had previously filed a rejected claim. So, besides losing the money paid for the trip, I have also lost the money for the insurance premium I paid to protect me. I feel that besides Travel Insured not paying me what I lost, they gave me a lot of conflicting information, so I will never use them again. I advise others to be wary, too, of using this unreliable company.
Update: Eventually Vantage Travel filed for bankruptcy. I then refiled my claim under the bankruptcy clause of this policy. The insurance company turned it down again. The convoluted wording of the bankruptcy clause seems to state that I cannot recover my loss if I actually paid the trip provider for the trip!!! I complained to Insurance My Trip but they were useless.

It was easy to purchase. I assume it would have covered any issues. But, I had none. I never contacted them nor did they contact me. So, it was a good trip!

Have bought this type of policy several times for peace of mind, but never needed it until this year. My wife got sick during our cruise and we missed our transfer home to airport due to a trip to emergency room. Thankfully, she was fine and luckily I bought the insurance as they covered all medical costs not covered by my insurance plus reimbursed airport transfer fees. Make sure you submit all required documentation including personal health insurance info. Customer service rep was so kind, helpful and patient with me throughout. Re-enforces why buying travel insurance is worth the peace of mind. I'll never travel without insurance again. Highly recommend this very reasonably priced plan.

I was diagnosed with two Cranial Aneurysms over a month before my cruise. I was scheduled for surgery, and told I would not be able to travel or cruise.
I filed my claim, provided a letter on hospital stationary with an explanation. The letter from my neurosurgeon was one of the two accepted pieces of paperwork required. I sent in a copy of everything else they requested, as I had previously discussed with one of their phone representatives.
In the last month, I have had several emails telling me my paperwork was not acceptable, and even after I explained everything to them, they kept asking for different types of copies of payments, etc.
I understand that they do not want to pay fraudulent claims, however, I find their requests to be something that they could have been handled better through a phone call to me.
My advice to anyone using them, realize that they will require all kinds of bills and and cruise paperwork, amongst other things. As the woman I spoke with advised me, you always have to read all of the fine print in the contract. So, I find myself unhappy with them because I believe they could be handling this better. They are the professionals dealing with this daily. When using any insurance agency, do a much more thorough job of reading their requirements, should you need to file a claim.

UPDATE: My claim was paid on 2/7/24, and I am happy that this process is over. Please make sure when you purchase travel insurance, that you read the small print, have copies of everything and anything related to how you paid for the cruise, and if related to illness, all of the forms they require. It is best not to go by what a representative may tell you on the phone, but by what is in their fine print.
This will make the process easier for you.
It took more than 2 months and several phone calls to receive payment for a very straightforward claim. There are also absurd requirement for redundant documentation (e.g. a copy of a train ticket with the amount paid stated clearly on the ticket was not enough — they also required a copy of my credit card statement).

00Because I did not visit a doctor no part of insurance would kick in. Never mind that I had seen my family doctor before I left. And we did fly home from Aruba at our cost. The cruise was supposed to be from December 9-19. We flew home on the 12th. Couldn't get anything back. We have a cruise leaving December 23 . We had to cancel it too. Bought the same insurance too> nothing back. I forgot- we did get paid our insurance back! Even tho it says you have 15 to review it you really only nave 14 days . I know because when I told them I was exercising my right they had to send it "upstairs" to get it oked. Will not buy a buy any insurance from them.
