Our airline cancelled our flight home from New Zealand the night before we were to come home! Spent two extra nights in Christchurch. not a hardship but IMG reimbursed to policy limits for the additional cost. Top notch service.

I inquired about documentation needed to file a medical claim since I got sick while abroad. I received a wrong answer first --Nationwide sent me the form for a trip cancellation, which was not the case, and then Nationwide answered with the correct form several weeks later, on the day I was traveling back. It is totally unacceptable for the insurer to answer an inquiry about documentation weeks (between 2 and 3 weeks) later. Once you leave the country you are visiting, it will be very hard to get any missing paperwork.

The plan cost was amazing for the coverage received. The claims process was quick and generous: I filed for a trip delay claim on June 20, got an email on June 30 asking for additional expenses receipts, and received checks in the mail on July 14. I was surprised by the trip delay coverage being for each calendar day instead of per 24 hours of delay. That doubled the per day limit per person that we were covered for. I will purchase this plan again for future trips!

Our trip for three to Colombia on Spirit Airlines was delayed by three days due to a massive flood in Ft Lauderdale, our connecting city. Then returning home, we missed the connecting flight back due to a 2.5 hour delay in Customs, so we had to stay overnight in a hotel. I figured, well, IMG would reimburse us for the delays and the hotel. Then I went to fill out their claim form. What a joke. They make it virtually impossible to file a successful claim with the requirement that you must provide a, "Statement from common carrier and travel supplier indicating if any refund, reimbursement, credit, and/or voucher was issued. If no refund, reimbursement, credit, or voucher was issued, a copy of the cancellation terms and conditions must be provided to verify you are not entitled to reimbursement or credits from any other source." Yeah right, go ahead and try to get Spirit Airlines or any other carrier to take the time to do all that on your behalf. I was so discouraged I basically said screw it, I don't have time for this, and nor will I have time to ever use IMG for my travel insurance going forward.

I had COVID and the insurance policy I paid for turned out to be absolutely useless. Never again will I use Generali Global Assistance company, this is why:
I tested positive for COVID using my home test kit while in Melbourne, AU. I tried but couldn’t find a testing facility to obtain an “official doctor notice”. I contacted Generali assistance line for help with locating a facility to certify my test result. They found a place in Perth (!) which is on the other side of the continent! After explaining this to the rep they advised me to use “Google” although I had told them I had already tried the Google route in vain and that’s why I was calling them. No other solution was offered. Now I can not even submit my claim because I don’t have a medical doctor notice certifying I had COVID. I do have pictures of the test result, but it is “not official”.
