I had an unexpected injury in the back country of Baja California. After getting to a place with a telephone, I was able to reach the 800 number and got assistance and authorization for an evacuation. The plan paid off my evacuation-related costs (including airline change fees) and also paid for the unused portion of my trip. they made me file a request with my health insurer, Kaiser, to get back the hospital charge, which was negligible, since this was Mexico.
I am very grateful I had insurance and the service was excellent. I will buy again from this company.

Thankfully I have never had to use the policies and do feel that I was able to get exactly what I was looking for. I will use for future trips, I just wish it wasn't so expensive.

Was not able to get refunded because I had to purchase my insurance the same time I purchased my trip which was NOT clearly stated. Very disappointed with Nationwide and will NEVER recommend to anyone.

Thank you for your feedback. Although we regret that your claim to cancel your trip because you had to work was denied, your Nationwide Mutual Choice Cruise plan does explain that this Trip Cancellation benefit only reimburses you if your cancel for work reasons if this coverage was purchased within final payment for the Trip. Your documentation showed that payment for the Trip was on January 30th, 2019 and our records indicate that the policy was purchased after that date on February 25th, 2019. Regrettably, your claim does not qualify for reimbursement if you cancel for work reasons.
Fortunately we did not have to file a claim so don't know how good the plan or the process would have been. It was half the price of what our travel agent was offering.

Happy not to have a claim but I did have to file one a few years back, which went smoothly. It is really important to open the tabs and read more about the coverages-especially what is never covered when lost. I always use the 800 number and talk to a person- the agents are really knowledgeable about the products. They help make informed plan choices based on your trip (and don't just point you to the most expensive one). Remember to buy it soon after you arrange your trip to get the coverage, if you can, for pre-existing conditions.
