I always thought that after I had purchase my trip I only had 10 days to purchase your insurance. Went many times without insurance due to me believing this. Glad I was informed that wasn't true.

I'm glad I haven't used it this time. But don't be stupid and assume that you won't need it while traveling abroad. I had a very sad occasion couple of years ago when I had to interrupt my trip, and I was glad I had a travel insurance. If money is tight - skip one restaurant visit and eat at home/hotel, but get a travel insurance.
